Refrigerated Bunker Hopper, improves Bottom Line

Refrigerated Bunker Hopper, improves Bottom Line

The WYMA Refrigerated Bunker Hopper is proving to have ongoing advantages for pack-house owners and their customers. Overall profitability is achieved through improved flow efficiencies and reduced costs. Buyers are pleased with the quality of fresh produce which is handled with care and kept at optimal storage temperatures.

The Wyma Refrigerated Bunker Hopper allows for bulk storage of fresh produce at a controlled temperature prior to packaging – it is predominantly used for carrots. The system stores produce in large tanks eliminating the need and associated cost of boxes/bins. The bunker maintains hydration and hydro-cooled temperature almost to the point of packing to achieve optimum produce shelf-life.

Overall efficiency is improved as less machinery is required. There is no need for box tippers, linking conveyors or forklifts and the maintenance associated with additional machinery. Less manually operated machinery means reduced labour requirements. Less tipping and handling also means produce damage is reduced.

“The storage capabilities... and the gentle nature in which the system works is better for the product, my customers and more importantly, our bottom line.” Steven Moffatt, Moffatt Fresh Produce, Australia
