COMPAC works along side the tomato packers to deliver them outstanding performance in terms of fruit weight grading, colour sorting, internal quality and blemish detection. Our end-to-end tomato solution ensures our customers experience gentler handling, greater throughput, lower labor requirements and improved, consistent tomato quality, resulting in a greater return from their packed crop. Backed up by packing performance metrics from their system and compliance with traceability requirements.
We have installations in 40 countries and specialise in designing and building packhouse technology solutions; from infeed through to our worldclass after sales support.

Infeed is the method by which the tomatoes arrive on the sorter. Over the years we have perfected a range of innovative handling solutions to ensure tomatoes are transported and processed gently, with the utmost care.

For tomatoes we have a variety of infeed solutions to cater for all demands. We have manual and automatic tipping options ensuring gently infeed onto the line.

Using a mesh-like conveyor, under-sized tomatoes are redirected before they reach the grader.

Central to Compacs tomato technology is our unique sorting technology. Your production requirements and capacity determine whether single, dual or multi-lane sorting capabilities is right for your packhouse. All of our sorting solutions can be specified with Compac’s innovative, industry-leading InVision and Taste Tech NIR tomato grading systems to reduce labor requirements while maintaining the highest level of consistency and accuracy.

Precise electronic weighing combined with Compac’s Pack Optimisation software delivers unsurpassed accuracy for our customers meaning packing specifications are met, tomato giveaway is reduced and profits are maximised.

Our intelligent, easy-to-use InVision learning software enables intuitive recognition of fruit types and will adjust grading accordingly. With the ability to define 16 different grades of color.

Using both cameras and Compac’s advanced InVision software, tomatoes are sorted based on the presence surface blemishes. InVision can detect and grade on minor to major defects including skin blemishes, insect damage, misshapen fruit, bruising and abrasions. The Compac InVision system is very tunable, allowing for various grades which incorporate differing levels of defects for ultimate control when it comes to matching product grades to different markets.

Compac has a range of tomato packing solutions to meet the different needs of our customers including box, bag, tray, bin, punnet and tote. Our packing solutions have been designed with tomatoes in mind, ensuring a particularly gentle transition and handling of fruit.

Automatic Box filling machines with weighing options are designed to volume fill boxes with a specific amount of tomato at the outlet of a sizer.

Our manual or semi-auto bagging systems use Compac’s unique optimizers to select the optimal combination of fruit across the sorter to ensure the most accurate bag weights are achieved, with the minimum possible giveaway.

Compac technology allows punnet and clam-shell filling by both count and weight to ensure the optimal quantity of tomatoes in the punnet

Compac’s data and integration solutions ensure that all tomatoes are tracked and recorded as they cross the sorter, with this information being exchanged with other packhouse systems such as ERP, traceability systems and carton printing applications.
