MeBioS POSTHARVEST GROUP has developed co-operations with Vietnam National Agricultural University (Hanoi, Vietnam) and Addis Ababa University (Addis Ababa, Ethiopia). These project are funded by the Flemish Interuniversity Council – Development Co-operation (VLIR-UOS). In these projects we try to transfer technologies that we have developed in our lab to farmers and co-operatives in order to reduce postharvest losses.

Katholieke Universiteit Leuven has joined The World Food Preservation Center LLC together with other major research universities located in the United States, Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and South America and the ARO Volcani Center in Israel and GrainPro, Inc., a major manufacturer of advanced postharvest technologies. These "Sister" Universities and Institute along with GrainPro, Inc., are working together in a unique partnership to develop new sustainable technologies to combat food loss in developing countries and throughout the world. The non-profit World Food Preservation Education Foundation has recently been formed to solicit scholarship funds for students to attend “Sister” Universities of the World Food Preservation Center LLC. Those interested in supporting this effort can donate to the World Food Preservation Education Foundation.
