FOMESA FRUITECH's disinfection range and its range of Fumigens include products designed to be released in closed environments; especially suitable for the treatment and disinfection of surfaces and premises used to store fruit and vegetable products: empty chambers, refrigerated containers and lorries, warehouses and packing plants, etc. They also have the added advantage of not generating waste water.
The time the fruit spends in cold stores is one of the critical points in their handling. A correct cleaning and disinfection of the chambers prevents the appearance of problems derived from the attack of pathogenic microorganisms.
It is advisable to disinfect the chambers once a week, especially during degreening or in case of high levels of rotting. In pre-cooling chambers with pre-cooled fruit, cleaning and disinfection can be done every 15 days. Additionally, also at the beginning of a new season, after a rainy period and/or before a long storage period.
The disinfection of the chambers can be done by means of two types of treatments: liquid and fumigant.
Fumigant treatments have an advantage over liquid treatments in that they do not generate waste water. Moreover, we can make double use of the application and introduce empty containers into the chamber, thus also disinfecting them. For fumigant disinfection of empty chambers, we recommend the use of the fumigant canisters FRUITFOG-AC or FUMICROB, or the new formulated total discharge aerosol STERIBOX-FOG:
- FRUITFOG-AC: Fumigant fungicide and bactericide can based on quaternary ammonium (24% w/w). Its dose of use is 1 can of 600 g per 1000 m3 of volume to be treated.
- FUMICROB: Fumigant fungicide and bactericide can based on orthophenylphenol (7% w/w) and glutaraldehyde (3.5% w/w). Its dose of use is 1 can of 600 g for every 1200 m3 of volume to be treated.
- STERIBOX-FOG: Total discharge aerosol based on aldehydes: glutaraldehyde and glyoxal, with fungicidal, bactericidal, sporicidal and virucidal activity. Its dose of use is 1 can of 750 mL to treat up to 1000 m3.
