The upcoming edition of the Controlled and Modified Atmosphere Conference 2025 (CAMA2025) will be held in Washington State, USA, and continues to generate great anticipation within the scientific and professional communities of the sector. Registration is still open and can be completed through the official conference website: www.cama2025.com.
CAMA2025 will feature prominent international experts as keynote speakers. The confirmed keynote presentations promise to offer innovative perspectives on fruit storage and postharvest handling:
Pramod Mahajan: Sensors and Modelling Applied to Fresh Produce Packaging and Storage
Bart Nicolai: Holding Their Breath: How Innovative Controlled Atmosphere Storage Technologies Keep Pome Fruit Pristine
Randolph Beaudry: Target Atmospheres for the Storage of Blueberry Fruit: What Should We Expect in Terms of Decay Control and Physiological Impacts
Christopher Watkins: Dynamic Controlled Atmosphere Storage – A USA Perspective on Challenges and Opportunities
These presentations will set the technical framework for the discussions and research addressed throughout the conference.
As part of the technical program, three specialized tours will be offered, allowing participants to explore firsthand the innovations in produce packaging and handling processes in Washington State:
Tour #1: Value-Added Fruit Processing
Tour #2: Pome and Stone Fruit Packing Facilities
Tour #3: Onion and Potato Packing and Sorting
The tours will cover the regions of Cashmere, Wenatchee, and Quincy, known for their prominent agricultural activity and postharvest technology.
The final day of the conference, May 22, has been designated as “Industry Day,” a special event focused on strengthening ties between scientific research and the fruit industry. This in-person event will serve as a platform for the exchange of applied knowledge, emerging trends, and strategic collaboration.
Industry Day will feature two expert panel sessions and sponsor presentations:
Panel 1: New Apple Cultivars: What Do We Need to Know to Optimize Storage?
Panel 2: Pear Disorders and Storage Challenges
Panelists and specific topics will be announced soon and will be available on the official website: www.cama2025.com.
