The Valencian Cooperative Cheste Agraria has carried out a complete restructuring of its citrus packaginghouse in Cheste (Valencia, Spain). The facility features a palletizing system with robots for the product arriving from the field, automatic box tipping, bundling of empty boxes, two treatment lines, two AWETA sorters with different outputs for bulk, automatic packing of small boxes, manual packing, mesh bag packaging, and pre-sorting. Finally, all assembled boxes are automatically directed to different robot palletizing outputs, with subsequent strapping, weighing, and pallet labeling. Everything is done automatically and controlled by comprehensive management software. Cheste has relied on Serfruit/Giró for the design, implementation, and commissioning of each stage of the project.

Francisco Alemany, General Manager of Cheste Agraria, explains:

"The Cheste Agraria cooperative has experienced notable growth in recent years, in a solid manner, with clear criteria and always looking towards the future. As a result of this evolution, our packaging plant needed restructuring to adapt to the new times, and we were clear that automation was key in the design of the new project to improve efficiency and operational profitability of the plant."

He adds:

"We decided to bet on Serfruit/Giró to design and implement the automation project for our entire production plant, and we are very satisfied with the result."
