Agricoat NatureSeal Ltd, a specialist in edible coatings and post-harvest preservation, presented its portfolio designed to maintain quality and extend shelf life in fresh-cut (IV range) fruits and vegetables.
During the show, the company staged a side-by-side display of treated vs. untreated produce. Examples such as avocado, apple, banana, potato and guacamole made the difference in colour, texture and overall appearance immediately evident, underlining the efficacy of the technology in keeping products fresh and visually appealing for longer.
The NatureSeal® range uses plant-based ingredients to create an invisible barrier that helps retain colour, texture and flavour, thereby reducing waste. It includes formulas for fresh-cut applications as well as Semperfresh® post-harvest coatings, developed to delay ripening and reduce weight loss and shrivel during storage.
Agricoat also offers NatureSeal® First Step (FS), a chlorine-free, organic-acid produce wash accepted for use in organic production. FS is formulated from food-grade ingredients to effectively control harmful bacteria and spoilage organisms while keeping produce looking and tasting natural.

For processors, Agricoat NatureSeal provides solutions that help maintain colour, texture and freshness for up to 21 days in a wide array of fresh-cut items, without imparting off-flavours or odours. Formulations are sulphite-free, allergen-free and GMO-free, and many are Kosher and Halal approved.
A recent development is NatureSeal® PT1, a sulphite-free alternative for preventing browning in peeled, sliced or diced potatoes. Developed by the UK R&D team, PT1 maintains colour for up to 48 hours in ambient air and up to 10 days under vacuum packaging, with no impact on flavour or cooking performance.
Agricoat NatureSeal solutions are used successfully on apple, pear, mango, avocado and grape, and on fresh-cut vegetables such as carrot and onion. For avocado, NatureSeal helps maintain the vibrant green colour and fresh sensory profile in slices, dices and halves, as well as in fresh guacamole, without the need for preservatives.
Beyond fresh produce, the company is extending its innovation into sustainable packaging through the Verdecoat line, functional coatings designed to enhance pulpability and compostability while helping maintain product freshness in pack.
With more than 350 fresh-cut processors worldwide relying on its technologies, Agricoat NatureSeal strengthens its position as a reference provider of shelf-life extension solutions for fruits and vegetables, combining innovation, food safety and sustainability.
