Bizerba's SealSecure system has been nominated for the messweb masters 2025 award in the Image Processing category. These awards, considered a benchmark in the fields of measurement, sensor technology, and industrial automation, annually recognize technologies that represent a significant advance in quality control and process optimization. SealSecure's nomination highlights the importance of machine vision as an essential tool for strengthening food safety, improving efficiency, and ensuring competitiveness in the packaging of fresh produce.
Defective or contaminated sealing seals pose a critical risk in the packaging of fresh produce, as they can cause leaks, quality loss, and potential claims. To address this challenge, Bizerba has developed SealSecure, a machine vision inspection system that monitors the integrity of MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) in real-time with total coverage.
The system combines a high-resolution camera with precise lighting, making it capable of detecting organic contaminants such as product residue, liquid drops, or folds in the sealing film, regardless of the packaging's transparency or ambient lighting conditions. Its compact design, automatic height adjustment, and a simple user interface allow SealSecure to be easily integrated into existing production lines, either as a standalone device or directly into the GLM-I labeler.
With speeds of up to 90 m/min, the system continuously inspects 100% of packages, providing immediate feedback to optimize the process. Additionally, it's connected to BRAIN2 industrial software, which ensures digital documentation and complete traceability for each lot.
SealSecure is also known for its versatility and technical robustness. It's compatible with other control systems like dynamic weighers, metal detectors, or X-ray inspection equipment. Its IP65 protection rating (with an optional IP66) makes it suitable for demanding environments, and it can be equipped with climate control or additional sensors depending on the application. In addition, it adapts to a wide range of packaging, from thermoformed or film-sealed trays to tubular bags, even if the sealing areas are printed or colored.
The implementation of SealSecure offers multiple benefits for fresh produce packaging lines:
Ensures packaging integrity for every unit produced.
Prevents claims and recalls through the early detection of anomalies.
Automates quality control with the automatic rejection of defective packages.
Digital traceability by storing images and production records.
Enhances efficiency and sustainability by reducing waste and improving food safety.
With SealSecure, Bizerba reinforces its commitment to a safer, more efficient, and more sustainable food production. The nomination for the messweb masters 2025 recognizes not only the value of this technology but also Bizerba's more than 30 years of experience in the development of optical inspection and automation systems.
The voting will remain open until September 12, 2025.
