Citrosol is taking a significant step forward at this year's Fruit Attraction, debuting a new location in Hall 10, Stand F22, with 64 m² space is set to welcome clients and visitors from all over the world. Over the three days of the fair, a team of 26 professionals, including representatives from its subsidiaries in South Africa, Peru, and Uruguay, will be on hand to serve both domestic and international markets, reinforcing the company's global commitment.
This year, Citrosol is focusing on CATsystem®, a pioneering innovation for controlling decay in citrus. This technology stands out for its ability to measure and adjust the concentration of active ingredients in treatment solutions in real time, ensuring more consistent, precise, and highly efficient processes.
Jorge Bretó, CEO of Citrosol, declares:
"CATsystem® is a unique technology that provides automatic and precise control of post-harvest treatments. Its ability to correct variations in real time leads to a significant reduction in waste and claims, generating direct financial savings for our clients."
During the fair, Citrosol's technical team will be available to explain and demonstrate the operation of CATsystem® live, offering visitors the chance to see firsthand how this technology is transforming post-harvest treatments.
The company will also be showcasing the Citrocide® Fresh-Cut system, a solution that uses the Citrocide® disinfectant to provide a safe and sustainable wash for fresh-cut fruits and vegetables. Thanks to continuous monitoring and automatic control, the system keeps concentrations within the proper range, preventing cross-contamination and ensuring traceability throughout the entire process. This innovative system is also organic certified and complies with the recommendations of the EFSA (European Food Safety Authority), which emphasize the importance of rigorous control of disinfectant in post-harvest wash water.
Citrosol will also display the potential of other innovations, including GREENFOG-AS, a "zero residue" fumigation treatment that acts directly on the surface of citrus after harvesting. Its action eliminates fungal spores and helps reduce claims, all through a green chemistry technology that uses no water and generates no waste.
With these solutions, Citrosol reaffirms its leadership in innovation, sustainability, and food safety, adding value not only to the global citrus sector but also to rapidly expanding crops like tropical and stone fruits.
"All markets are important, and at Citrosol, we strive daily to maintain them and continue to grow in those with the greatest potential for fruit and vegetable production, where our technologies can make a difference," the company states.
Founded in 1964 as Productos Citrosol, S.A., its post-harvest treatment and technology business began in the 1960s within Electroquímica del Serpis, S.A., both in Potries, Valencia. As a result of significant organic growth over the last 10-15 years, Citrosol currently has 109 employees, 8 of whom are stationed in various countries and at its subsidiaries in South Africa (Citrosol South Africa Pty) and Peru. At its Potries facilities, the company has an R&D+i laboratory and a pilot plant of just over 1,200 m². Its organic growth has largely been due to its strong innovative character, having received the CEPYME Innovation Award in 2015 and 2020 and the 2020 Business Innovation Award from the Valencia Chamber of Commerce.
Citrosol was founded as a specialist in post-harvest treatments and technology for citrus, but for over 10 years, as a result of its R&D+i work, it has been developing solutions to extend the shelf life of avocados, peppers, tomatoes, peeled garlic, and other fruits and vegetables. Citrosol is currently implementing its solution for fresh-cut produce, the Citrocide® Fresh-Cut system which significantly reduces the water and carbon footprint in the production of these products. With all its treatments and technologies, Citrosol makes an enormous contribution to reducing food loss and waste in fresh fruits and vegetables.
