Citrosol, a leading company in the development and commercialisation of postharvest technologies and solutions for fruit and vegetables, will once again take part in Fruit Logistica 2026, to be held from 4 to 6 February in Berlin, where it will present two major proposals focused on avocado postharvest management.

At this new edition, Citrosol will have its own stand, reaffirming its commitment to Fruit Logistica as a strategic meeting point for innovation, customers and international markets. The company will be located in Hall 18 – Stand A-25, within the Mediterranean Europe pavilion, with a total exhibition area of 56 m² and access via the Entrance North (Halls 18–24).

Avocado preservation

At Fruit Logistica 2026, Citrosol will focus on avocado preservation, presenting two innovative solutions designed to significantly extend the fruit’s commercial life, improve quality and reduce losses throughout the supply chain:

Citrocide® Avo System

An organic hygienic washing system designed for the effective control of stem-end rot and the improvement of food safety in avocados. With efficacy rates above 90%, it is positioned as a sustainable alternative to fungicides, leaving no residues and certified for organic agriculture.

PlantSeal® Tropicals

A plant-based coating that protects avocados against dehydration and chilling injury during storage and transport, reducing internal browning by up to 84% and extending shelf life. Certified with the vegan V-Label, it helps to reduce claims and food waste.

Technical presentation at the Insights Stage

These solutions will take centre stage in the conference “Technologies to reduce food losses in avocados” (Insights Stage, 4 February, 12:30 pm, F 60, Hall 21), where Citrosol will provide a comprehensive overview of how applied innovation can transform avocado postharvest management.

During the presentation, real industrial results obtained in export packinghouses in Peru will be presented, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Citrocide® Avo System under commercial conditions. In addition, independent trials conducted by the IVIA will be shared, supporting the positive impact of PlantSeal® Tropicals in reducing chilling injury and extending shelf life.

Postharvest innovation

In addition, at Fruit Logistica 2026, Citrosol will showcase GREENFOG-AS, a fumigation treatment that can be applied in cold rooms and containers, highly effective against various fungi responsible for decay and stem-end rot in fruit and vegetables, helping to reduce commercial claims. Its active ingredient is a green chemistry compound, approved for citrus treatment in the EU and considered a GRAS substance by the US FDA.

Alongside this solution, the company will present advances in Citrocide® Systems, integrated washing and disinfection systems designed ad hoc for different types of fruit and vegetables, including fresh-cut produce. These systems ensure safe and sustainable washing of minimally processed fruit and vegetables, resulting in a reduction in decay and a significant improvement in food safety, while considerably reducing claims.

These solutions prevent cross-contamination, ensure full process traceability and allow hygienic recycling of wash water, reducing consumption without generating harmful by-products, thereby reinforcing both food safety and sustainability in packinghouses.

With these solutions, Citrosol reaffirms its commitment to innovation applied to postharvest operations, offering its customers tools that provide greater control, efficiency, sustainability and peace of mind at every stage of the process.

Commitment to international markets

For Citrosol, all markets are strategic, and the company works continuously to consolidate its presence and continue growing. In this context, countries with rapidly expanding horticultural production represent significant potential for the future development of its technologies, which provide added value not only in the global citrus market but also in other crops for which the company has been developing solutions for years, such as tropical fruits and stone fruit.

To strengthen this leading position in the postharvest market, during the three days of the fair Citrosol will deploy a team of 16 professionals to offer personalised attention to customers and visitors, demonstrating first-hand how its solutions help reduce losses, improve food safety and optimise resources. In addition, the company will be joined by its distributors from Thailand, India and Turkey, with whom it will share three intensive days of meetings and commercial activities, all at Hall 18 – Stand A-25 of Fruit Logistica 2026.

About Citrosol

Founded in 1964 as Productos Citrosol, S.A., postharvest treatments and technology activities began in the 1960s within Electroquímica del Serpis, S.A., both based in Potries (Valencia, Spain). As a result of significant organic growth over the last 10–15 years, Citrosol currently employs 136 people, 12 of whom are based abroad in various countries and in its subsidiaries in South Africa, Peru and Uruguay, as well as its own staff in Egypt.

At its facilities in Potries, the company operates an R&D laboratory and a pilot plant of more than 1,200 m². Its organic growth has been largely driven by its strong innovative character, having received the CEPYME Innovation Award in 2015 and 2020, as well as the Innovation in Business Award 2020 from the Valencia Chamber of Commerce.

Citrosol was originally specialised in postharvest treatments and technology for citrus fruit, but for more than 10 years, as a result of its R&D efforts, it has been developing solutions to extend the commercial life of avocados, peppers, tomatoes, peeled garlic and other fruit and vegetables. Currently, Citrosol is implementing its fresh-cut solution, the Citrocide® Fresh-Cut System, which significantly reduces water and carbon footprints in fresh-cut fruit and vegetable production. Through all its treatments and technologies, Citrosol makes a substantial contribution to reducing food losses and waste in fresh fruit and vegetables.
