The redesigned configuration allows potatoes and sweet potatoes of up to Ø200 mm to be processed, helps maximise French fry length and production capacity, and reduces blockages. Easier setup also reduces dependence on highly skilled technical operators.
FAM STUMABO introduces an improved feeding system for the SureTec 240P, replacing the current standard feeding system. The new system allows both potatoes and sweet potatoes to be processed and guides the product towards the drum, where it optimally positions it. This helps processors maximise production capacity and French fry length, while also reducing blockages, particularly when processing sweet potatoes.
The new design increases the maximum product inlet diameter from 110 to 200 mm while maintaining the maximum length at 240 mm. This allows the SureTec 240P to process a wider range of potatoes, including larger sweet potatoes, which often exceed 110 mm in diameter.
The 240 mm-wide drum allows long potatoes to be cut along their entire length. Thanks to the profile of the feeding system, the product reaches the optimal position for cutting, helping to maintain high production capacity. The SureTec 240P is designed to provide clean and precise cuts while minimising product breakage and tearing.
Recent FAM STUMABO projects with customers show that easier setup and consistent results are becoming increasingly important for potato processors.
“It is becoming increasingly difficult to find and retain qualified technical personnel, so processors need equipment that relies less on operators’ specialised knowledge. With the SureTec 240P, we have eliminated many of the traditional setup variables. This makes it easier for operators to achieve a correct and consistent setup. The positive feedback we receive from potato processors confirms that they immediately recognise this challenge and that this approach addresses a real market need,” says Leighton Banner, Branch Manager of FAM STUMABO UK & Ireland.
The SureCut Unit (SCU) addresses this need. Cutting components can be pre-assembled and the required cutting size can be preset outside the machine. Spare SCUs can also be prepared in advance and kept ready for use. This allows operators to quickly install the complete unit, with fewer adjustments on the machine and a lower risk of setup errors. This simplifies tool changes and helps minimise production downtime.

The SureTec 240P can process potatoes and sweet potatoes, with the skin on or peeled by abrasion or steam, to produce straight, crinkle-cut and deep crinkle-cut French fries, as well as dices and slices. To cover this variety of applications, the machine retains other proven features of the existing model. A selection of impellers allows products of different sizes to be correctly aligned before cutting. The slip clutch and slip detection system help protect the cutting components from damage caused by foreign objects and reduce downtime.
FAM STUMABO will present the updated SureTec 240P at Interpom, in Hall 1, stand 199. The trade fair will take place in Kortrijk, Belgium, from 29 November to 1 December 2026.
