It’s Fresh!, a company specialised in ethylene-control solutions for the fresh-produce sector, has taken its RYPEN® technology into the domestic arena through a collaboration with the British firm Lakeland. The result is the new Stayfresh Sheets, reusable liners designed to prolong the freshness of fruit and vegetables at home. The initiative puts a well-established post-harvest technology within consumers’ reach, aiming to keep food fresh and curb waste in everyday settings.
Stayfresh Sheets are intended for use in household fridges, fruit bowls or reusable containers. Their flexible format and ease of handling allow direct placement on produce with no installation or set-up. Each liner works over an extended period, protecting product quality by absorbing ethylene, the natural compound that accelerates ripening. They are particularly useful for sensitive items such as berries, tomatoes, avocados, bananas or kiwifruit.
RYPEN® relies on a high-capacity adsorbent material that works passively and releases no chemicals. Its selective mechanism captures ethylene present in the storage environment, slowing ripening and deterioration. Independent trials have shown its efficacy across a range of fruit and vegetables, significantly cutting loss rates during transport, storage and distribution. The system remains active for an extended cycle without frequent replacement.
It’s Fresh! has focused on developing solutions to improve freshness from harvest to destination. Its ethylene-control technology was first applied in pads and filters for export cartons and containers, providing a clean, effective way to extend the commercial life of sensitive products.
Present in Europe, America and Africa, the company works with growers, exporters and retailers to optimise logistics and cut losses along the supply chain. In recent years it has unified its portfolio under the RYPEN® brand, consolidating its position as an innovation leader in post-harvest preservation.
