During its participation at MeetingPack 2026, Novamont S.P.A addressed the role of bioplastics in the development of more sustainable packaging in Europe.
In his presentation, Federico Faiella, Application Development Manager at the company, focused on how the combination of paper and bioplastics can help address current packaging challenges, particularly in relation to waste management.
According to Faiella, bioplastics can provide functional properties to paper, enabling the development of solutions that maintain the technical performance of packaging while adapting to different waste management systems, such as recycling or organic recovery.
The presentation also addressed the European regulatory context, which sets new targets for recyclability and waste reduction. In this scenario, it was noted that certain applications may rely on compostable solutions, especially in cases where recycling is more complex.
The company also referred to several developments based on this combination of materials, aimed at packaging applications seeking to improve sustainability without compromising functionality.
