Food safety continues to evolve as new contaminants emerge and regulatory frameworks become more stringent across international markets. In this context, Analytica Alimentaria will hold a technical session on March 26 focused on emerging contaminants and their impact on food control.
The session will focus on compounds such as PFAS, nickel, melamine and patulin, whose increasing regulation is creating new challenges for the food industry, not only in terms of compliance but also regarding market access and supply chain stability.
The session will review current regulatory developments in Europe, as well as the analytical challenges associated with detecting these contaminants using advanced techniques.
It will also examine their impact on food marketability and international trade, in a context where anticipating regulatory changes and managing risks are key factors for industry operators. In addition, the importance of proactive inspection and monitoring strategies will be addressed, aimed at identifying risks before they become critical issues for production and commercialization.
The programme will include an introduction to Analytica Alimentaria’s activities, as well as an overview of specific contaminants such as melamine, patulin, nickel and PFAS, together with their current regulatory framework. It will also address the relevance of food contaminants in the current context, the role of sampling in analytical control, and the importance of analytical services in food safety management.
