Citrosol is returning to Fruit Attraction with three of its flagship solutions taking centre stage: GREENFOG-AS, Citrocide® Systems and CATsystem®. The company, which has a strong position in the citrus sector, will also use its participation in the trade fair to showcase the development of its activities in other horticultural markets with growth potential, including stone fruit and tropical produce.
To this end, Citrosol will have a 72-square-metre stand in Hall 3, D26, where a team of 26 professionals will be present throughout the three-day event, including staff from its South African and Peruvian operations.
Among the postharvest solutions Citrosol will present at this edition of Fruit Attraction is GREENFOG-AS, a “zero-residue” fumigant solution designed for the postharvest treatment of citrus fruit. Its application eliminates fungal spores and helps reduce claims associated with fruit storage problems. The system is based on a green chemistry formulation, requires no water and generates no residues during application, combining high efficacy with sustainability.
Citrocide® Fresh Cut Systems, meanwhile, are designed for the hygienic and safe washing of fruit and vegetables, particularly minimally processed and fresh-cut produce. Their features include the prevention of cross-contamination, process traceability and hygienic recycling of wash water, helping to reduce water consumption and prevent the generation of harmful by-products.
CATsystem® is also an essential part of the company’s portfolio. This system measures and corrects the concentration of active ingredients in treatment baths in real time. It analyses the treatment solution and adjusts concentrations to keep them within the established range, ensuring consistent, precise and efficient application. In this way, CATsystem® represents a technological advance in the control of decay in citrus fruit and provides an essential tool for more sustainable packhouse management.
Alongside these solutions, Citrosol will showcase at Fruit Attraction the development of its activities across different horticultural markets. Although citrus remains one of its main areas of activity, the company has been developing solutions for other crops for years, including tropical fruit and stone fruit, two segments with growth potential as horticultural production expands in different countries.
The diversification of crops and markets forms part of the evolution of Citrosol’s postharvest technologies. The company also works with products such as avocado, mango, apples and pears. Citrosol has an international presence and operations in markets including South Africa, Peru and Uruguay, from where it addresses the needs of growers and operators in different geographical regions.
Throughout the three days of Fruit Attraction, the Citrosol team will be available at stand D26 in Hall 3 to meet industry professionals and present the potential of its postharvest solutions across the different markets in which it operates.
About Citrosol
Although Productos Citrosol, S.A. was founded in 1984, its activity in postharvest treatments and technology began in the 1960s within Electroquímica del Serpis, S.A., with both companies based in Potries, Valencia. Following significant organic growth over the past 15 years, Citrosol currently has 136 employees, 12 of whom are based in different countries and at its subsidiaries in South Africa, Peru and Uruguay, as well as its own staff in Egypt.
At its facilities in Potries, the company has an R&D&I laboratory and a pilot plant covering just over 1,200 m². Its organic growth has been largely driven by its strong focus on innovation, which has earned the company the CEPYME Innovation Award in 2015 and 2020, as well as the 2020 Business Innovation Award from the Valencia Chamber of Commerce.
Citrosol was founded as a specialist in postharvest treatments and technology for citrus fruit. However, for more than 15 years, as a result of its R&D&I activities, the company has developed solutions to extend the commercial life of avocados, peppers, tomatoes, peeled garlic and other fruits and vegetables.
Citrosol is currently introducing its solution for fresh-cut produce to the market, the Citrocide® Fresh-Cut System, which significantly reduces the water and carbon footprint associated with fresh-cut fruit and vegetable production. Through all its treatments and technologies, Citrosol contributes significantly to reducing food losses and waste in fresh fruit and vegetables.
