On Friday 30 May 2025, Grupo Giró celebrated its 100th anniversary with a commemorative event at the Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya (MNAC) in Barcelona. The gathering brought together over 600 employees from across the country in a celebration that highlighted the company’s history and the key role played by its people in a century of growth.

The evening was hosted by comedian Pep Plaza and featured a welcome cocktail with a drum performance, a dinner designed by Jubany Events led by chef Xavi Orte Ponsa, and a final musical show by The Tutsies. The programme combined institutional moments with spaces for recognition and social connection among Giró’s team.

A century serving the fresh produce industry

Founded in 1925, Grupo Giró has evolved into one of the world’s leading companies in packaging solutions for fresh produce. Headquartered in Badalona (Barcelona), the company designs, manufactures and distributes complete systems that include machinery, packaging materials and technology for automated packing lines.

With a presence in more than 50 countries, Giró operates nine subsidiaries and five production centres across Europe and the Americas. The company is recognised for its innovation capabilities, particularly in developing sustainable packaging such as compostable nets and 100% cellulose-based formats, as well as in the automation of packaging, weighing and labelling processes.

Throughout its history, Giró has remained firmly committed to sustainability and operational efficiency, two core pillars that continue to guide the development of solutions aligned with the latest market demands and environmental standards in the industry.

People at the heart of the celebration

The event at the MNAC also served as a tribute to the people behind the company. With participants from various departments and generations, the evening underlined the value of human capital in Giró’s ongoing success.

The company’s centenary not only marks a historical milestone, but also strengthens its future vision: to continue working alongside the fresh produce sector with innovative, efficient and environmentally conscious technologies, while never losing sight of the key role played by the people behind every project.
