Ilerfred installs propane-based refrigeration system for horticultural storage

Ilerfred has developed a refrigeration installation for horticultural storage based on a propane R-290 chiller, a natural refrigerant known for its high energy efficiency.

The system pumps glycol water at -8 ºC to the different services, used as a secondary fluid for cooling the storage chambers. This configuration allows centralised cold production and its distribution to different points within the facility.

The installed air coolers are cubic-type units equipped with EC fans, and include a front-opening access frame that facilitates maintenance and cleaning tasks in environments with dust generation.

The installation includes an air-cooled propane R-290 chiller with a refrigeration capacity of 300 kW.

The glycol water circuit, operating at -8/0 ºC, is composed of two circulation pumps (1+1) that supply the different storage chambers through a ring system, ensuring service continuity.

Potato storage in refrigerated chambers

The installation serves a logistics facility with four potato storage chambers of 1,200 m³ each, along with two additional chambers of 600 m³.

These types of installations are designed to maintain controlled temperature conditions during storage, adapted to the requirements of the product.
