INFIA4EARTH, Infia's sustainability program aimed at reducing food waste

Infia is committed to ongoing research and development of innovative solutions aimed at reducing the environmental impact of production processes. Its plastic packaging already makes a significant contribution to sustainability by reducing food waste. Thanks to the new 'F' side ventilation system, fruit and vegetables have a longer shelf life. By working with our customers ? large retailers, government institutions, non-profit organizations, and entities involved in environmental sustainability, waste reduction, and material recycling - we strive to consistently improve the performance of our products. To our customers, our commitment becomes a guarantee of respect for four main objectives: Reduction of food waste Food waste is currently a pressing issue drawing the attention of institutions increasingly inclined towards eco-friendly economics. In a scenario where the new focus is on 'rationalization of resources,' we paradoxically continue to waste enormous amounts of food. Annually in Italy, 260,000 tons of food are lost in the distribution chain, turning into rubbish, with fruit and vegetables accounting for 40% of this figure. At the final consumer level, the amount of waste is even more alarming (source: Last Minute Market). The key to addressing this lies in the shelf life of produce, indicating the duration produce can be stored without becoming unfit for use or consumption. When discussing fruit and vegetables, the packaging performance is crucial for preserving produce for a longer time, thus reducing the amount of purchased but uneaten food. Even the United Nations and the European Community acknowledge this. Our commitment aims to develop solutions that improve shelf life by reducing the percentage of waste causing significant financial losses to retailers and hindering the sustainable development of our industrial sector. Infia punnets with 'F' side ventilation exemplify our commitment in this direction. The company actively participates in various targeted programs of international entities (such as Save the Food, Love Food Hate Waste, Wrap, etc.). EnvironmentT Infia punnets feature an innovative side ventilation system called the 'F Concept,' allowing for a 25% reduction of carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere during the pre-cooling phase of fruit and vegetables. Additionally, thanks to the new mono-material handle free of metal rivets, all Infia punnets are now 100% recyclable. Upholding its green innovation philosophy, Infia has concluded an authorization process for its 'Supercleaning Process' with the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). This approval enables the company to use its RECYC077 registered internal recycling process, ensuring that its material is 100% recycled, safe, and sustainable. Advantages: Reduced use of virgin plastics preventing environmental impacts associated with extraction and refining Benefits in terms of energy, resource utilization, and greenhouse gas emissions Safety To Infia, safety is a foundational value, and it is consistently committed to implementing prevention plans and improving working conditions to safeguard the well-being of its workers. Through its mission, Infia helps make workplace accidents preventable. Every employee is responsible for ensuring their safety and that of others. Infia is committed to respecting laws, codes of ethics, and cultures while having a positive impact on the quality of life of the community where it operates. Its mission also includes compassionate goals: annually, it makes financial donations to charitable entities and associations. Innovation Infia's Sales, Production, and Technical teams continuously collaborate to create new solutions to offer customers products with high-quality standards and ever-higher performance. The side ventilation system, the One-Shot mono-material punnet, the use of internal super cleaner machines, and the introduction of a new print directly on the punnet are just a few examples of how the enthusiasm, skills, and expertise acquired by the company over the years ensure quality and efficiency for customers worldwide.
