With the publication of its second edition, Actual Poscosecha 2025, the journal promoted by Postharvest.biz and sponsored by Citrosol, consolidates its position as a scientific-technical dissemination medium specialised in postharvest technology, aimed at professionals, companies and researchers in the fruit and vegetable sector.
This new edition strengthens the journal’s role as a channel for the transfer of applied knowledge in key areas such as fruit and vegetable preservation, packaging and processing, helping to bring scientific and technological advances closer to the operational reality of the sector.
The foreword of this second issue is signed by Dr. Benito Orihuel, who defines Actual Poscosecha as a “necessary” publication to strengthen the link between science, technology and industry. In his text, Orihuel highlights the economic and technological relevance of the fruit and vegetable sector and postharvest handling, as well as the historical absence in Spain of a journal specifically focused on this discipline with an applied orientation. In this context, he positions Actual Poscosecha as a response to that editorial gap and emphasises its contribution to improving quality at destination and reducing losses and food waste.
The edition is completed with the Letter to Readers by Alicia Namesny, CEO of Poscosecha.com and editorial coordinator of the journal, who explains the evolution of the project at this new stage. Among the main developments are a design review aimed at improving clarity and ease of reading, as well as an editorial change that allows articles to be published individually as soon as they are available, while maintaining their subsequent integration into the complete issue.
Namesny also points out a coherent expansion of the editorial approach, incorporating production technology content when it provides context for postharvest processes, reinforcing the vision of continuity between field management and final product quality. The editorial coordinator also reminds readers that Actual Poscosecha and Biblioteca de Horticultura are open to research contributions from around the world and invites interested authors to contact info@poscosecha.com
Actual Poscosecha is thus consolidated as a reference tool for the sector, aligned with current challenges in sustainability, innovation and knowledge transfer.
