Open Pre-Registration for the 7th Postharvest Technology Course ? Citrus and Emerging Crops in the Mediterranean Region

Consumers demand higher-quality, more durable, healthier products with better presentation and easier consumption. Additionally, the industry seeks to reduce food loss, apply sustainable technologies, and make advancements in utilizing by-products. These are the challenges faced by the postharvest sector, demanding an increasing number of qualified professionals. The Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), the School of Agricultural Engineering and Environment (ETSIAMN), and Poscosecha.com are organizing the 7th Postharvest Technology Course ? Citrus and Emerging Crops in the Mediterranean Region, scheduled from January 25th to March 8th, 2024, at the UPV. The course aims to offer comprehensive and specialized training in conservation technology, processing, packaging, and marketing of the most relevant crops in the Mediterranean area, such as citrus, persimmons, avocados, kiwi, pomegranates, stone fruit, berries, nuts, and vegetables, among others. The course is available in two modalities: in-person and online (streaming). The latter mode allows access to live classes and enables live comments. Additionally, course videos will be available throughout the duration for easier viewing. Moreover, this year, there will be an optional workshop on fruit and vegetable quality control protocols. Who is it for? The course is aimed at professionals in the sector, as well as students and graduates in Agricultural and Rural Environmental Engineering and related disciplines. In previous editions, more than 45 participants attended, including warehouse managers and technicians, supermarket buyers, representatives from technology supply companies, and final-year undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students. Faculty The course features the presence of 40 prominent researchers and professors from UPV and other prestigious centers, along with experts from leading postharvest technology companies. Schedule and Location Classes will be held on Thursdays and Fridays from 16:00 to 20:00, between January 25th and March 8th, 2024, at ETSIAMN, both in-person and via streaming. Scholarships and Aid Participants from Spanish companies may obtain public subsidies for their registration through the FUNDAE Foundation. Additionally, there are 15 scholarships available for UPV undergraduate, master's, or doctoral students.
