Sorma Group, a leading technical partner for fruit and vegetable operators in post-harvest and packaging tasks, is presenting a world premiere at Fruit Attraction 2025 (September 30–October 2, Hall 3D22) with the P&P-800, the new-generation Pick and Place system that raises efficiency, placement, and visual quality of packaging to new standards. 03, Stand 3D22) the P&P-800, the new-generation Pick and Place system that raises the bar in terms of efficiency, placement, and visual quality of fruit packaging.
Designed and developed entirely by the research and development center of Sorma Ibérica, the Spanish subsidiary of Sorma Group, the P&P-800 represents the perfect balance between automation, precision, and delicacy. The machine is capable of placing various types of fruit in trays (either on conveyor belts or in the final packaging) in a fully automated manner, orienting them all in the same direction to ensure visually striking packaging.
Thanks to an advanced system of smart cameras, each piece is detected, rotated, and aligned in real time, always showing its best side. One camera controls the inflow, a second manages the rotation, while a third 3D camera ensures precise placement down to the millimeter.
The P&P-800 is powered by software based on the Linux operating system and enhanced by Sormatech-AI, the artificial intelligence developed by Sorma Group. This allows the machine to automatically recognize the type of fruit, the format of the trays, and the configuration of the containers, ensuring a flexible, fast process without manual intervention.
The system is managed by a belt with an integrated encoder, a compact electrical panel, and a modern 15.6" touchscreen console with an intuitive interface that allows immediate interaction between the operator and the machine. Operators can easily choose their preferred orientation mode: side stem, bottom stem, or display the most attractive side, thus obtaining a perfect and uniform aesthetic result. Dedicated sensors also ensure a constant and controlled flow, without interruptions or misalignments.
Daniele Severi, director of the Technology Division at Sorma Iberica, states:
“With the P&P-800, we wanted to respond to the demand from fruit and vegetable operators for a system that combined automation, precision, and flexibility. It is the result of a completely in-house research and development process, which has allowed us to create a competitive solution tailored to the specific needs of our customers".
The new packaging machine is now available on the international market.
Severi concludes:
“With this proposal, Sorma Group reaffirms its commitment to innovation and customer focus, introducing technology to the fruit and vegetable sector that marks a turning point in the packaging of fresh fruit".
