The annual Prognosfruit conference held its 50th edition this August in Konstanz, Germany. This leading international forum on the European pear and apple industry concluded with a warning that production of both fruits is expected to decline due to persistent heat waves. This is particularly the case for apples, as Spain is estimated to be the only EU country to increase its production, with a 7.5% rise compared to the previous year.
The multinational company AgroFresh has once again participated as a sponsor of the event alongside Freshfel Europe. This support is for an international conference whose main purpose is to publish the industry’s official forecasts for Europe and bring together producers, traders, and experts to analyze market trends.

Prognosfruit brings together producers, marketers and experts to analyse production forecasts and market trends for pears and apples.
Bernd Schneider, AgroFresh’s commercial director for Central and Eastern Europe, highlighted:
"Prognosfruit has been a fantastic opportunity to exchange perspectives on the 2026 season and to support our customers in facing the challenges ahead. At AgroFresh, we will continue to work with the industry to offer effective solutions and identify new growth opportunities.”

AgroFresh once again participated as a sponsor of Prognosfruit alongside Freshfel Europe.
For AgroFresh, this forum has established itself as a key meeting place to analyze, together with the various stakeholders in the supply chain, the industry outlook for two of the most widely consumed fruits on the planet. The event provided an opportunity to share different perspectives on how to move toward more efficient production that is better prepared to face the sector’s new challenges.
The company notes that the interaction with customers, partners, and industry leaders has been very rewarding. Activities ranged from exchanging ideas to exploring how science, technology, and data can help achieve better results, from the orchard to retail.
Held from August 5 to 7, Prognosfruit brought together producers, marketers, and related experts, who analyzed the main challenges facing the sector. Among these, climate change stands out as one of the major issues, making the search for new tools and strategies to ensure the quality and profitability of production a fundamental task.
