Modified atmosphere solutions for bananas are designed to create specific conditions inside the packaging. Stabilizing the conditions around the product allows bananas to be harvested at their optimal stage and maintain quality for a longer period throughout the supply chain. This reduces logistical pressure to accelerate commercialization and lowers the need to remove or discount products due to over-ripening.
In addition to improving shelf life and commercial quality, reducing losses also helps decrease food waste and the carbon footprint associated with each kilogram marketed.
