Proba and RipeWise combine process control and predictive analytics

At Fruit Logistica, VDH Products and Experience Fruit Quality announced a strategic collaboration that connects VDH’s proven Proba ripening control system with the RipeWise data platform. The integration combines established process control with data-driven intelligence for fruit ripening operations.

The initiative represents a step toward more predictable and efficient ripening processes within the international fruit supply chain, aligning traditional control systems with advanced data analytics.

Combining process control and predictive intelligence

VDH Products has long been recognized for its measurement, control and automation systems in the fresh produce sector, particularly in the ripening of bananas, mangoes and avocados. The Proba ripening system is widely used for precise management of ripening rooms, controlling temperature, ventilation, gas concentrations and humidity.

While Proba 5 is the current standard, compatibility with earlier installations remains a key aspect of the collaboration. RipeWise can be connected to both Proba 5 and Proba 4 systems, allowing operators to enhance existing infrastructure without requiring a full upgrade.

RipeWise, developed by Experience Fruit Quality, integrates hardware and software to consolidate data on fruit development, logistics, sensor readings and process planning into a unified platform. Through algorithm-based analysis, the system:

The hardware component consists of fully equipped ripening rooms supplied by De Laat Koudetechniek, seamlessly connected to both the controllers and the software platform.
