Long before the definition of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Xeda International was already applying sustainability principles to develop innovative solutions for the fruit and vegetable sector.

Since its inception, the company has focused on sustainable postharvest treatments and natural bioprotection systems designed to lower environmental impact while enhancing production efficiency.

Technologies like Electrofog, engineered for the thermal fogging of fungicides and anti-sprouting agents directly inside storage rooms for fruits and tubers, eliminate water usage during treatments. This effectively prevents the generation of associated wastewater (SDG 13). Furthermore, these systems optimize application efficacy and streamline produce management, resulting in higher quality, extended shelf life, and minimized food losses (SDG 2).

In the same line, equipment such as the Biowaxer, utilized for applying the Xedasol L natural shellac wax on apples, contributes to a significant reduction in the carbon footprint compared to conventional coating systems.

Through the development of essential oil-based products like BioxM and Bioxeda, the company drives "zero residue" strategies that decrease toxic waste and foster more sustainable food supply chains (SDG 12).

European registrations, numerous patents, and international certifications such as ISO 14001, Ecocert, and Procert validate the company's long-standing dedication to sustainability (SDG 9). Additionally, their BIMA (Low Environmental Impact) technology encompasses low-toxicological profile products and specialized equipment that maximize application efficiency or even eliminate certain traditional chemical treatments entirely, as seen with the Hydroheater system (SDG 13).

The different companies operating under the group closely collaborate with official bodies and research centers to pioneer advancements in the fresh produce industry in a transparent, legal, and secure manner (SDG 9).

Intergenerational human capital remains a core value for the organization, balancing highly experienced professionals with young talents who bring fresh perspectives to the team. Gender equality is also a fundamental pillar across the group, which boasts fully female-operated teams and a strong female presence in leadership and management roles (SDG 5 and SDG 8).

Over the years, Xeda has consolidated its position as an industry pioneer, consistently delivering sustainable solutions to help meet the global challenge of feeding the world responsibly.
