AgroFresh, an AgTech innovator with 40 years of experience in the near- and post-harvest sector, continues to develop sustainable solutions to reduce food loss/waste and steward the planet’s resources. These innovations will be presented at the Macfrut fair, in AgroFresh’s booth located at Hall D1 Stand 198.

After the acquisition of Tessara, announced in October 2023, AgroFresh has amplified its capabilities in post-harvest produce freshness and food waste reduction with added solutions for key crop segments such as table grapes and berries, such as Uvasys and Berrisys. These solutions help packers and exporters worry less about rot affecting the quality, particularly Botrytis cinerea.

AgroFresh will also feature their digital innovation FreshCloud, a platform that provides data analysis tools and quality insights to help optimize freshness, product quality management decision-making processes and help reduce loss/waste from the field to the retail food sector. Additionally, Strella is the recent addition to their digital portfolio, a wireless sensor that help optimize the apple and pear room opening with real-time data.

The company will present VitaFresh Botanicals SoftFruit, the plant-based coating made from sunflower oil (Helantius sp.) specially developed for plums and nectarines. This product helps to create a natural "double skin" effect that facilitates the maintenance of the fruit's freshness. Its most distinctive characteristics are the reduction of dehydration, as well as the improvement of the external appearance. The solution is vegan-certified by the European Vegetarian Union (EVU), providing an additional advantage for products destined for export.

Moreover, AgroFresh will promote their wide range of solutions including their flagship product SmartFresh, the award-winning technology that puts the ripening process “on hold” and is available in Italy for different crops such as apples, peaches, kiwis, plums and pears, among others. They will also highlight FreshStart, the brand of products to disinfect processing water in contact with fruit. These disinfectants have a low environmental impact and degrade rapidly without leaving residues and are certified by CAAE for compatibility with organic production in Europe.

AgroFresh supports producers, packers and retailers with solutions along the food supply chain to improve the quality and extend the shelf life of fresh produce. AgroFresh representatives will be available at Macfrut in Hall D1 Stand 198 through the run of the show.
