As part of its ongoing commitment to technological innovation and youth development, Unitec is a key partner in the “Artificial Intelligence for Digital Girls (AI4DG)” initiative—an educational project designed to spark interest among secondary school girls in the world of computer science and artificial intelligence.

Funded by the Emilia-Romagna Region, in partnership with Art-ER and supported by the European Social Fund, the program will launch five summer camps under the “Digital Girls” banner, taking place from June 16 to 27, 2025 across the university campuses of Cesena, Forlì, Ravenna, and Rimini. The program is completely free of charge and is open to high school students from the provinces of Forlì-Cesena, Ravenna, and Rimini.

Unitec, long dedicated to fostering scientific and technological vocations among young people, enthusiastically joins the initiative—reinforcing its role as a driver of innovation in the region. In partnership with the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Bologna, the camp offers an intensive 50-hour training course covering computer science, computational thinking, and the transformative power of AI across fields such as public administration, healthcare, and industry.

Professor Antonella Carbonaro, project coordinator, explains:

“Our goal is to provide an accessible and inspiring introduction to computer science. We want girls to discover their potential, collaborate in teams, and build self-confidence through hands-on lab experiences and the public presentation of their projects.”

Each camp location will be led by a team of young, dynamic, and passionate instructors, who will guide participants through a practical, engaging, and team-based approach. Additionally, all students will have the chance to visit the Cesena Campus of Engineering and Computer Science, where a final showcase will present the projects they’ve developed.

With this initiative, Unitec reaffirms its commitment to education, gender equity in STEM, and the development of future talent—key to advancing the field of artificial intelligence in Italy.
