Precision in logistics management is not just an important requirement in times of crisis to be able to hold your own on the market. From the receipt of goods to production and despatch: no company in the filling business can afford over and under portioning. On the one hand under-portioning damages the company’s image and thus the customer’s trust and on the other hand even slight over-filling can add up to considerable material loss. The checkweigher CWE weighs and classifies up to 400 packages a minute and therefore controls the give away.
In production the CWE 1500 checkweigher prevents incorrect packages getting into circulation. It weighs and classifies up to 400 packages a minute - according to weight categories defined by the company or those legally prescribed. A detector can be optionally integrated which recognises metallic contaminations. If incorrect weights or contaminations are detected two pushers reject the incorrect packages. “The IFS certificate states that packages with metal impurities may not end up in the same container as those with the incorrect weight. That is why we need two pushers and two containers”, explains Dieter Conzelmann, Manager Product and Application Management Industry at Bizerba.
Even untrained staff can easily learn to operate the checkweigher. The user will find a “digital speedometer” for conveyor speeds of up to 170 metres per minute on a 12-inch touchscreen, a histogram of the last n-packages and the Gaussian distribution.
Production management can process this data centrally and draw up long-term. In the case of deviations, the member of staff in question can intervene directly in the production process and thus optimise throughput and reduce tiresome rectification work and the proportion of rejects.
“All data can also be printed and saved on a memory card or USB stick. In line with EU Directive 178/2002 on the traceability of goods, data protocols can also be sent automatically or accessed manually” says Dieter Conzelmann. He believes this complete documentation of weight makes the checkweigher CWE 1500 an ideal quality assurance tool for industry and retail. New items can of course also be added without the need for a calibration specialist.
The checkweigher covers a weight range of 10 grams to 1.5 kilograms. The direction and operating height can be adjusted in line with existing production lines. Nine different sizes of conveyor from 150 to 750 millimetres in length and 100 to 400 millimetres in width enable the creation of appropriate line concepts at a transport height of 75 to 115 centimetres. The multi-display concept makes it possible to set up several operating units at different points on the production line.
