The central fruit and vegetable market in Montevideo counts on pretty new place and buildings, inaugurated a year ago, the UAM, Unidad Agroalimentaria Metropolitana. One of the companies enjoying of new installations is Ciro Gentile, a main player in the exotic fruit business. With more than 60 years of experience, the company supplies the market with fruits not locally produced, such as bananas, pineapples, kiwis, avocados, papayas, mangoes, etc.

Franco Gentile, Executive Director of Ciro Gentile S.A., expressed his satisfaction with the results obtained after the installation of the Cold Energy Ecotop ripening system. Fructidor publish his declarations, explaining how he took the decision.

"We met with Cold Energy on the recommendation of the company Sabrostar Fruit Company, who is our supplier in Ecuador. The first contact took place in the modern facilities of the company Argenfruit, located in Mendoza - Argentina. During the visit we got to know the cold rooms, as well as the final product obtained with the Ecotop ripening system. A product that differs from the rest, due to its superior quality and greater durability, and this is what we see at the moment."

It has only been 4 months since Ciro Gentile S.A. installed the Ecotop ripening rooms, but the first results are already being seen: "The most important thing that our customers noticed is that the fruit now lasts 48 to 60 hours longer than with traditional ripening processes. What has changed is how the fruit ripens. You can see the change in the color that the banana takes once it ripens, it acquires a much brighter color. Our customers are very satisfied, however, in terms of growth, it is still too early to see it, because 4 months is not indicative", concluded Franco Gentile.
